Scott Quigley on joining Vale

5 July 2018

Scott Quigley is raring to get started in a Vale shirt having become Neil Aspin's eleventh summer signing, joining on a season-long loan from Sky Bet League One side, Blackpool.

The 25-year-old is relishing the opportunity to showcase his talents in Sky Bet League Two, and having risen through the youth ranks at The New Saints, he will link up with former teammate Connell Rawlinson ahead of the new season.

With a scheduled pre-season trip to Ireland in order to gain fitness, Quigley will have chance to get to know his new colleagues and become accustomed to his new surroundings, something which he is looking forward to.

He said: "We had a bit of a running session this morning before going into an 11 v 11, so with being new that helps me find out what different players are capable of and what to expect from them.

"They need to get to know me as well, discovering what I'm good at and maybe not so good at, but hopefully everyone can mould together and then it's happy days.

"The trip away will be important, and that is why most clubs have bonding sessions where you're going to be away and in the same environment with all of the other lads."

The forward joined in with his first training session on Thursday morning as the squad gear up for their first friendly fixture against Redditch United on Friday night.

With less than a month now until the fresh campaign gets under way, the forward is focused on catching the eye of the manager and competing for a place in the starting line-up.

He said: "Obviously I want to score goals, I'm a centre forward and that is the main thing, but I just want to help Port Vale get back into League One.

"I'm a strong lad and I'm quick as well, so I like playing in behind, but I don't mind coming to feet either. A lot of people assume that I'm not that fast being a big lad, but I like to surprise them.

"The first game of the season is what I am looking forward to now, that is where my head is at the moment. I can't wait to show what I've got to offer and hopefully I can push on from there."
