Manager Rob Page felt Port Vale’s comeback win over Peteborough United was a statement of intent.
Byron Moore and JJ Hooper each scored to haul the Valiants back from a 2-0 deficit before Louis Dodds bagged the winner in the 89th minute at London Road.
The win ensured Vale remained just three points outside the play-off places in Sky Bet League One.
Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match, Page commented: “I think if you look at what they’ve got here and the resources they’ve got and how they go about their work.
“To come here and against all the odds to be a couple of goals worse off and to come back and get the win it shows our intent.
“We’re not just here to make the numbers up. I think that’s made a statement today to other teams as well so overall a pleasing day.”
