Bruno Ribeiro Talks FA Cup

1 December 2016

This weekend Vale return to the FA Cup for the Second Round of the competition as they entertain Hartlepool United at Vale Park.

Vale progressed to the next round last time out in Burslem, when Remie Streete fired the Valinats past Stevenage.

The Second Round is an important tie for Bruno Ribeiro and his side, as progression to the next round could set up a tie with a Premier League side.

That is something Ribeiro is after and he insists his team will do everything they can to book their place in the Third Round.

He said: “For us it is very important because we wan to play against big teams.

“If we have a chance to get to Wembley then even better, but I know that will be very difficult.

“We want to win next Sunday and we will see then what team we will take and play the best team to get us through to the next round.”

Ribeiro has been plagued with injuries and suspensions to his side in recent weeks, with many first team regulars unavailable.

Sam Hart and Kjell Knops will miss out due to suspension after collecting five yellow cards, the fifth against Shrewsbury last week.

However, unfortunately for Bruno, he doesn’t expect to have many players returning from injury, apart from one.

He added: “Maybe we will have Jerome Thomas back, but for the rest we wont have them available.

“We will see on Friday if he is ready to make a come back. But, it is very important for the club to go through to the third round and we will give everything.”
