Forrester - "I Thought It Was A Great Result"

15 August 2016

Take a look at the thoughts of the striker after he scored his first goal for the club.

Anton Forrester spoke to Valiant Player HD after he grabbed the headlines with a scintillating performance against Southend United on Saturday, which saw him score on his Vale Park debut.

Port Vale eased to victory against Southend United, with a top performance from Forrester, something he hopes will see him called up to the starting 11 for the up-coming match against Rochdale.

“I’ve done all I could today and hopefully that’s enough to get me in the team,” he said.

Since Bruno Ribeiro joined the club, he has brought in a number of players adding depth to the squad, something that was highlighted with the premature exit of striker Rigino Cicilia, and subsequently, the introduction of Anton Forrester.

Forrester spoke of what it meant to him on a personal level: “I’m always ready to come on or start, or for whatever he wants from me. I’m happy that he has the belief in me, to call on me when needed.”

Carrying on in a personal sense, the former Blackburn and Everton man shares his thoughts on scoring on his debut: “It was unbelievable. That’s my aim; to help the team, and obviously goals are a bonus, so I’m made up with it.”

Port Vale bounced back from a defeat away at Carlisle United and Forrester thought it was nothing short of the perfect response: “I thought It was a great result. That’s two clean sheet now in the league and all the lads put 110% in, it was brilliant.”

Up next for Vale are Rochdale at Vale Park on Tuesday 16th August, and Forrester is very confident heading into the match: “I think if we performed like we did on Saturday and everyone’s at it, then I think we can beat anyone.”
