Sky Bet League One Weekly Round Up

18 April 2016

Port Vale were 2-0 winners at Gillingham on Saturday. Here we take a look back at Sky Bet League One’s other results.

Table toppers Wigan Athletic were dealt a shock defeat by Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Will Grigg had put the Latics in front in the first half but two quick-fire Andy Butler goals and an Andy Williams penalty conversion secured a welcome three points for the hosts.

Blackpool’s survival hopes were handed a blow at Spotland Stadium as Rochdale boosted their chances of a play-off place.

Ashley Eastham, Joe Bunney and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing all scored to move the Dale onto the 64 point mark in the table.

Promotion hopefuls Bradford City were held by Shrewsbury Town at Greenhous Meadow thanks to a late Jean Louis Akpa Akpro strike.

Jamie Proctor had given the Bantams the lead midway through the second half but Akpa Akpro popped up with six minutes left to earn Salop a share of the spoils.

Second placed Burton Albion were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home to Barnsley.

The result leaves the Brewers three points ahead of third placed Walsall, who have a game in hand and a superior goal difference.

There was a five-goal thriller at Gresty Road where Scunthorpe United were 3-2 winners over already relegated Crewe Alexandra.

Oliver Turton did give the hosts an early lead but Luke Williams equalised and then Hakeeb Adelakun put the Iron in front.

Williams scored his second of the afternoon with a quarter of an hour to go before Marcus Haber grabbed a consolation just minutes later.

Elsewhere Sheffield United were 3-0 winners at Chesterfield, Walsall beat Southend 1-0, Peterborough won 4-1 at Colchester, Coventry beat Millwall 2-1, Bury won 1-0 at Swindon and Fleetwood and Oldham drew 1-1.
