Sky Bet League One Weekly Round Up

4 April 2016

Port Vale fell to a second half comeback by Chesterfield on Saturday. Here we take a look back at the weekend’s other Sky Bet League One results.

Wigan Athletic came back from a goal down to beat Shrewsbury Town 5-1 at Greenhous Meadow and head to the summit of the table.

Sullay Kaikai had put the Shrews ahead in the 28th minute but Conor McAleny equalised for the Latics before half time.

Following the break Gary Caldwell’s side turned on the style as Yanic Wildschut, Jason Pearce and Will Grigg each scored to seal an emphatic win.

Previous league leaders Burton Albion scored in stoppage time to rescue a point against Bury at the Pirelli Stadium.

Ryan Lowe fired the visiting Shakers into the lead midway through the second half before Tyler Walker netted with a back-heel to salvage a draw.

Crewe Alexandra were handed a blow to their survival hopes as they were thrashed 3-0 by Peterborough United at London Road.

Harry Beautyman scored twice in the first half before Lee Angol sealed the three points for Posh after the break.

Bradford City continued their good form with a 1-0 win over Scunthorpe United. Steve Davies netted the only goal in the 68th minute and the Bantams have a five point cushion in the play-off places.

At Bramall Lane two first half Sheffield United goals ensured the Blades saw off Walsall with minimum fuss.

Chris Basham and hot-shot striker Billy Sharp each scored to ensure the three points remained in Yorkshire.

Elsewhere, Gillingham and Coventry drew 0-0. Blackpool were 2-0 winners over Southend, Colchester and Millwall finished goalless, Rochdale and Doncaster drew 2-2 and Swindon and Fleetwood drew 1-1.
