Page Pleased With Pressure Performance

1 November 2015

Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased with his side’s ability to produce a win under pressure against Shrewsbury Town.

A Louis Dodds goal and a Michael O’Connor penalty conversion ensured the Valiants picked up their first three points in five games.

The Vale boss acknowledged that performances haven’t been up to scratch in recent weeks and so he was delighted to have secured a victory over a side in a similar league position.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD following the contest, Page gave his reaction to the defeat of Micky Mellon’s Shrews.

“I’m really pleased,” he began. “We’ve been disappointing of late obviously, we’re not naïve enough to think otherwise.

“As a club it’s been pretty hard these last couple of weeks. We know what we’re capable of doing, we’ve proved it in the past, three or four games we’ve played.

“But we can’t keep living off those games, we’ve got to recreate those levels of performance.

“We’ve got to ask ourselves why we raise ourselves for the big games and to the so called lesser teams we don’t give a good account of ourselves.

“That’s something we’re addressing. I thought today there was pressure on us as well because the expectation was there for us to win that game.”
