Vale had an excellent month during which they won three of their five Sky Bet League One games, drawing one and losing the other.
That form earned manager Rob Page a nomination for the division’s Manager of the Month award – the first time he has been up for the accolade.
Overall Vale scored eight goals in February but we have narrowed the voting down to just these four…
Goal A: Mark Marshall vs. Bristol City – 07/02/15
Vale had their backs against the wall at Ashton Gate and, despite having played relatively well in the first half, were 3-0 down by this stage. The ball was crossed into the area from the right wing, Robins ‘keeper Frank Fielding punched it away but only into the path of Mark Marshall, who brought it down and fired home powerfully.
Goal B: Mark Marshall vs. Doncaster Rovers – 21/02/15
This passage of play was as much about Tom Pope’s exquisite cross-field pass as it was the goal itself. The Vale striker picked up the ball in midfield, spotted Mark Marshall’s run and picked him out with a perfectly weighted ball, which the winger then prodded past onrushing Rovers ‘keeper Stephen Bywater.
Goal C: Freddie Veseli vs. Doncaster Rovers – 21/02/15
Manager Rob Page admitted in his post-match interview that the entire Vale bench was thinking exactly the same thing as defender Freddie Veseli picked up the ball around 35-yards from goal – ‘don’t shoot’. However, as the hail battered down at Vale Park, the Swiss right-back obviously fancied his chances of beating Bywater - and he did just that. With a swing of his right boot Veseli powered the ball through the ‘keeper’s hands and into the bottom corner. What a hit, son!
Goal D: Byron Moore vs. Doncaster Rovers – 21/02/15
The third instalment of Vale’s impressive 3-0 win over Paul Dickov’s side, Byron Moore’s goal combined fantastic team play with individual brilliance. The Valiants exchanged passes on the left, the ball found Louis Dodds and he picked out Moore’s run with a pinpoint through ball. From that point on, the winger did the rest. First he out-muscled the Doncaster right back before curling the ball into the opposite corner of the net from an almost impossible angle.
