Rob Page Targeting Positive Start To New Year

Boss Speaks To Valiant Player Ahead Of Tough Gills Test

  • Manager knows Gillingham will be difficult opponents
  • Page was pleased with performance against Swindon
  • Now wants players to push on in the New Year

Port Vale boss Rob Page wants his side to start the New Year with a bang against Gillingham this weekend at Vale Park.

The Valiants ended 2014 with a loss to Swindon Town but played well enough at the County Ground to feel as if they should have come away with a point.

Prior to that, Vale enjoyed back-to-back wins over Crawley Town and Sheffield United respectively, making for a positive Christmas period.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player prior to the Gillingham game, Page admitted it would be nice to begin the new calendar year with three points.

“We want to win every game we go into and so this is no different,” he said.

“You want to win the last game of 2014 and you want to win the first one of 2015 so nothing changes from that point of view.

“We take every game as it comes and we want to win every game.”
