Sky Bet League One Round-Up

24 August 2015

Port Vale recorded an emphatic triumph over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. Here we take a look at the weekend’s other results in Sky Bet League One.

Fleetwood Town were the biggest winners as they beat Colchester United 4-0 at Highbury Stadium. Jimmy Ryan, David Ball, Jamie Proctor and Jamille Matt each scored to seal the rout.

Elsewhere, Crewe Alexandra and Bury played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Gresty Road.

The Alex took the lead early doors through midfielder Adam King but Danny Mayor soon responded for the Shakers.

Ryan Colclough restored the hosts’ lead before Tom Soares once again leveled for the visitors, who had former Vale striker Tom Pope in their line-up.

Danny Rose gave Bury their first lead of the match in the second half before Brad Inman scored late on to ensure Crewe got a share of the spoils.

High-flying Coventry City were handed their first defeat of the season at the hands of Walsall at the Banks’s Stadium.

Anthony Forde and in-form front man Tom Bradshaw, who now has five goals for the season, gave the Saddlers a 2-0 lead.

On-loan Norwich City striker Jacob Murphy replied for the visitors but it wasn’t enough as Tony Mowbray’s side fell to their first defeat.

Gillingham continued their strong start to the campaign with a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic at Priestfield Stadium.

Bradley Dack, who scored against the Valiants just a few weeks ago, bagged both the goals, including one penalty.
