Sky Bet League One Round-Up

10 August 2015

The Sky Bet League One season started on Saturday with each of the 24 teams getting their campaigns underway.

The biggest shock came at Priestfield Stadium, where Gillingham beat promotion favourites Sheffield United comprehensively.

Emmanuel Osadebe, Deji Oshilaja, John Egan and Bradley Dack each scored to complete the route and send the Gills to the top of the table.

Coventry City beat newly relegated Wigan Athletic 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena. Tony Mowbray’s side earned the three points following an Adam Armstrong brace.

Elsewhere, Burton Albion made a successful start to life in the division with a victory over Scunthorpe United at the Pirelli Stadium.

A goal apiece from Stuart Beavon and Lucas Akins ensured Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side made an immediate impact in the third tier.

Millwall came away from Shrewsbury Town with three points to show for their efforts after Steve Morison and Lee Gregory each netted at Greenhous Meadow.

Last season’s beaten play-off finalists, Swindon Town, made a flying start to the new campaign with a 4-1 triumph over Bradford City.

Full back Nathan Byrne bagged a 16-minute hat-trick at the County Ground to sink Phil Parkinson’s outfit.
