Referee Dean Whitestone will take charge of Port Vale’s opening game of the 2015/16 season against Crewe Alexandra.
The Valiants make the short trip to their local rivals on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 3pm.
Whitestone took charge of 31 games in total last term, brandishing 73 cautions and four red cards along the way.
Manager Rob Page will have fond memories of the Whitestone's last fixture involving Vale.
The Valiants beat Barnsley 2-1 that day in what was the Welshman’s first game in charge.
Saturday will mark Whitestone’s first match at Crewe since August 2012, when the Alex were beaten 2-1 by Notts County.
He will be assisted by Thomas Bramall and Ken Haycock at Gresty Road, while Simon Mather will be the fourth official.
