Vale bring in a second loan signing

29 September 2014

West Brom's Reiss Greenidge joins Vale on loan

Vale have this afternoon made their second loan signing of the day with West Bromwich Albion’s Reiss Greenidge joining the club until the end of December.

The 18-year-old defender last year attracted interest from clubs in both England and Germany, including Premier League giants Chelsea, whose scouts rated the 6ft 5ins defender highly.

Greenidge joined The Baggies from Arsenal two seasons ago and the centre back impressed enough playing for the under 18s to be described as a ‘whizzkid’ in some quarters.

On joining the Vale, he said: “The move has been on the cards for about two weeks. I met the Chairman, had good talks with him and I then left it to my agent.

“At the end of last season there we a few big clubs who were supposed to be interested in me, but my aim is to play first team football instead of going to a big club like that.

“I can offer height, obviously good defending, speed and strength. I would say they are my main attributes from my time at West Brom.

“I like playing in behind, sweeping up and playing out from the back, that is something I can definitely offer, as well as aerial challenges.

“I will hopefully hit the ground running and impress, get into the first team squad and into the starting line-up and see what happens from there really.”
