Richard Duffy Backs Rob Page's Philosophy Of Defending From The Front

Defender On Glovers Clash

"They will come here on a big pitch, nice surface and try and pass the ball and we'll have our work cut out but we will be up for it."

"Whoever comes here we're going to have our hands full," he asserted.

A win this weekend would see Vale climb above the Glovers in the Sky Bet League One table but Duffy does not expect an easy game by any means.

"You defend from the front and work your way back. It would be great for the defenders and the goalkeeper but as a whole team as well."

"As Rob [Page] has come in and said, it's not just the defenders who keep a clean sheet, it starts from the front," the centre back told the press.

As a regular member of the back four, 29-year-old Duffy believes a clean sheet would help boost confidence throughout the entire team.

Despite some improved performances of late, Vale are yet to stop an opponent scoring in the 2014/15 campaign.

The Valiants host Gary Johnson's side at Vale Park tomorrow, kick-off 3pm, after three away fixtures in a row - at Bradford City, Fleetwood Town and Preston North End respectively.

Richard Duffy reckons that defending from the front will help in Port Vale's pursuit of a first clean sheet this season - hopefully against Yeovil Town on Saturday.
