Vale Midfielder Talks Win Over O's

Midfielder Chris Lines admitted Port Vale were pleased to keep their first clean sheet of the season on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Leyton Orient.

The Valiants beat their ten-man opponents thanks to second-half strikes from Adam Yates and Ben Williamson as well as an own goal by Orient defender Nathan Clarke.

At the other end, the visitors rarely threatened Chris Neal’s goal as Vale dominated possession and controlled the tempo of the match.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player following the game, Lines said the players were pleased with the win and delighted to stop the O’s finding the net.

“It’s great to get three points and maybe more importantly a clean sheet,” he said.

“I think a few of the fans were getting a bit worried we couldn’t keep a clean sheet but we’ve proven that we can today and we’ve won comfortably.”
