Adam Yates Disappointed With ‘Sloppy Goals’ Conceded

Defender Reacts To FA Cup Loss

Adam Yates was disappointed with manner in which Port Vale conceded goals during their FA Cup first round loss to MK Dons.

A Ben Afobe brace as well as strikes from Carl Baker and Danny Green sealed a 4-3 win for the visitors to put the Valiants out of the competition at Vale Park.

It marked the first home loss of Rob Page’s reign as manager and means attention must now turn to Sky Bet League One for the rest of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player, Yates admitted Vale conceded some poor goals against a side he thinks will be challenging for promotion from the third tier in May.

“I think we’ve given a good account of ourselves, there’s some sloppy goals in there but we’re playing a side which is going to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season in League One,” the 31-year-old said.

“I know they rested a few players but I thought we gave them a real go, we scored some good goals, we played well, gave everything we had on a tough pitch.

“But it was one of those games where their quality told.”
