The Magic of the FA Cup… Has it simmered out like the bulbs in Vale’s floodlights?
The FA cup, long hailed as the most magical date on the football calendar, when the little boys… the underdogs had a chance to get one over on the fat cats of the Premier League. The Vale proved how the FA Cup could bring sparkling publicity to the smaller clubs in the 1980’s and 90’s with a string of FA Cup upsets against the likes of Spurs and Everton. Unfortunately the Vale’s run In this year’s cup came to an end this weekend, as they were ravaged by some… Seagulls. Like our cup run of 2013-14 it seems that the magic of the FA Cup is waning as well, with more and more bigger clubs putting out weakened teams and gates significantly dropping, whilst league gates are steadily getting healthier. The question that remains is: Has the FA Cup caught the same bug as the League Cup or is it still the remedy for league blues?
