Kick off can't come soon enough for Vale skipper

Cup fever has hit the town once again with Brighton & Hove Albion the visitors on Saturday and the Vale players can’t wait to get amongst them.

For Vale skipper Doug Loft there is the added spice with it being his former club and he is relishing the prospect of he and his Vale team mates showing what they can do.

He said: “I am looking forward to it. It’s a big game for the club, a big game for the fans and a big game for the players.

“We know how they play, they pass the ball and it is going to be tricky, but here on our day anything can happen.

You have always got a bit of an advantage at home, but anything can happen. I fancy us, we have got a good squad and we have started to play better lately and I think there is a chance we can nick something.

“We had a bit of a blip over Christmas but we have picked up and the result the other day against Oldham was a good result – we are looking forward to Saturday’s game.

“I always have a look to see how Brighton are doing and they have been picking up wins here and there and they are a very good team.

“They pass the ball well and they are very good going forward so we are going to have to be on our game, but we have proved lately our fighting qualities in games and if we can fight and show what we can do we will do alright.

and I am not fearing them whatsoever and I am looking forward to the game, as are the rest of the lads and I can’t wait for kick off.” “There are a lot of players who can play at that level
