Lines ready for Cup tie

13 January 2014

Midfielder missed the first match and is looking forwaqrd to the replay

Chris Lines is looking forward to the replay this evening and sees no reason way Vale can’t finish the job off this time round.

The Vale midfielder missed the first game through injury but returned to the side on Saturday at Brentford and is now looking forward to helping the team into the fourth round.

“This game against Plymouth is massively important for us and obviously for the club as a whole, so it is a big game." he said.

“I didn’t play in the first game, I was watching and I managed to see they had a couple of quick wingers and one of my mates Reuben (Reid) plays for them and I know what he is all about

“But they are a league below us for a reason and we should have beaten them the other day. We should have had the game won at half time.

“We didn’t defend greatly, which was disappointing and the gaffer let the boys know the next day, but we have just got to play like we have been doing away from home and we have got to go down there and make sure we win.

“I am not really too bothered about the way Plymouth play, I will be just concentrating on what we do and if we play as we can we should win the game and that will set up a nice tie against Brighton.

“The game is massive for the club, for the Chairman and for everyone involved and there is a big sum of money possibly coming in if we beat them.

“It is frustrating for them that we didn’t finish the job off last time because at two-nil it was looking like we were cruising.

“There were a lot of people biting their nails last time so hopefully we can go down there and put the club in a little bit of a nicer place.”
