Best wishes to Kris Taylor

3 February 2014

Everybody at the club is thinking of former player

We would like to take this opportunity to wish former Vale defender Kris Taylor all the best in his struggle with testicular cancer.

Everybody at the club remembers Kris as a bright and bubbly character who we are sure will do everything he can to beat this awful disease.

If Kris’s time on the pitch is anything to go by, we know he will battle against it and do everything in his powers to come out on top.

Assistant manager Mark Grew said: “I heard about it this morning and it came as a shock because I only spoke to Kris six or seven weeks ago and he seemed fine.

“He was after a report and DVDs on a certain team and he seemed great and it came as a shock to me this morning.

“I have heard that they have caught the cancer early, a bit like Geoff Horsfield who got it and he came through it and played again.

“I was speaking to Geoff about it – he was my room partner – and he said it was a battle, but it is a battle I think Kris can win because he is a strong character and he will get the support from his family and everybody at Port Vale Football Club.

“He is a determined, dogged character, the same as when he played. He was never shy of a battle and he has got a big battle on his hands now but I am sure he will come through it and win this one as well.”
