Vale couldn't end Leyton Orient's unbeaten start to the season after going down 3-2 at the Matchroom Stadium.
Louis Dodds gave Vale a deserved lead in the first-half before David Mooney replied minutes later.
Mooney scored his second shortly before half-time to give Orient a lead going into the break.
Jennison Myrie-Williams' deflected shot put Vale back on terms but a late goal from Kevin Lisbie meant Orient made it six wins from six.
