Caretaker boss Rob Page bitterly disappointed following last night's defeat

Caretaker Manager Rob Page couldn’t hide his disappointment following last night’s home defeat to Rochdale in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and says the players must work hard to put things right.

He said: “It was nowhere near the performance we were after and we made that clear in the changing room with the boys.

“It has been a mixture of emotions for me in two or three weeks in charge, where we go to Tranmere and get a fantastic result and a great performance, the last two games not being what we expect.

“We know it is not acceptable as a group of players  and we have got to put it right. There’s only one thing we can do now and that is come back into work, work hard and make sure it gets put it right.

“I am disappointed with the way it has gone and it didn’t go to plan by any means. They looked like they had a few options every time they got the ball and we didn’t.

“That is something we have got to address, but I can count on one hand the number of times since I have been here that we have had to have a o at them for effort and enthusiasm, but for me that didn’t look like the same group of players.

“It is still hard for me to take, but credit where it is due, they come here and did a job on us and played well, but we shouldn’t be talking about a one-nil defeat.

“We should be capable of putting out a team that is capable of beating their team, but it hasn’t happened, we are all bitterly disappointed and the only thing we can do is pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and move on.”
