Vale announce GMB as strategic partner

Port Vale Football Club has announced that GMB will become the new club sponsor for the 2013/14 campaign.

In addition to becoming a major strategic partner for the club, the membership organisation will also sponsor the new home and away kits as well as the authentic Wedgwood blue limited edition third kit.

The GMB logo will feature prominently on the three Port Vale kits for 2013/14 with the option of a further season in place.

The partnership will also see GMB sponsor six of the Valiants’ key fixtures, which are the home ties against Wolves, Coventry, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Walsall and Sheffield United.

It has also been agreed that the Bycars Stand will be renamed as the GMBrights@work Stand.

GMB is a membership-based organisation with over 617,000 members across the United Kingdom, which campaigns for and projects workers’ rights at work.

Port Vale chairman, Norman Smurthwaite said: “I am very proud to have GMB as our main club sponsor for the new campaign, which will see them become major commercial partners of the club.

“They are an organisation which represent a number of our fan-base, in addition to many more in the city of Stoke on Trent.

“I am looking forward to welcoming GMB to our opening fixture against Brentford and seeing their logo on our shirt for the forthcoming season.”

Paul Kenny, GMB General Secretary, said: “Tying up with Port Vale is absolutely brilliant, we are so excited about it.

“Port Vale is a community club, we think we can bring something to the club, our members live in the area, it’s a really exciting prospect.

“Vale are a great community club and we are really pleased that we’re part of that community so we want to play a role to assist the club.”

Paul added: “We don’t want to be absent sponsors, we want to be engaged with all levels of the club and help support the communities.”
