Tomlin settled into life at Vale

Striker wants goals a habit

Striker Gavin Tomlin has settled into life at Vale Park with ease as the former Southend United forward looks to score the goals for the Valiants in League 1 next season.

“The boys have been great, they have been very helpful and welcoming so I have really enjoyed it so far,” Tomlin told Valiant Player.

“It’s about getting ready for the season and I want to be in tip-top shape for the first game, so it’s all going well.”

Tomlin has already bagged five goals during pre-season and the former Yeovil Town player is confident scoring can become a habit this season.

Speaking ahead of the friendly against Championship side Leicester City he told Valiant Player.

“It’s good habits; you have to show good habits no matter what game, training, whether it’s a friendly, habits stick, good ones and bad ones so it has been a good start.

“It is going to be difficult, no matter what league we are in, we’ve got some big games this season, and we are going to do well.”

Vale lost 5-3 to Derby County last Tuesday and week on Tomlin is expecting another tough match at Vale Park.

He said: “It will be a good test for us (against Leicester City) we’ve got a few knocks at the minute which is a bit difficult.

“It will be a good test for us to see where we are at this point of pre-season.”
