Vale getting short in numbers in defensive roles

Vale take on Championship outfit Leicester City at Vale Park on Tuesday evening (kick off 7.30pm) but manager Micky Adams has revealed Vale are suffering a bit of a defensive crisis at the moment with several players unavailable through injury.
He said: “We have got a few players injured and they all seem to be in the full back and centre half positions, which is a problem for us so we are going to look at a couple of trialists again against Leicester and see what develops.
“We are without Rob Taylor, Joe Davis, Liam Chilvers, Doug Loft, Adam Yates, Richard Duffy and Daniel Jones, so every full back combination we’ve got we have got a problem with it.
“The only one that has got a strain is Daniel Jones on his right thigh, which is unusual because he is left footed.
“The rest are all impact injuries, caused by the pitches being as dry as they are. Doug Loft has an Achiles injury, Liam Chilvers has got a problem with his back, they are just jarring problems really through the hard surfaces.
“The other have all been involved in tackles – Joe Davies, Adam Yates and Richard Duffy, so it is nothing we could have prevented.
“If they were all strains then we would be worrying about our training programme, but that’s just not the case.”
