GAFFER - "WE DIDN'T DESERVE TO LOSE"

17 February 2013

"But we didn't deserve to win either

- that was partly down to them as well. “We didn’t play to our maximum potential. I thought we played too many straight balls, particularly in the first half, the tempo of the game wasn’t what we wanted

it and they nicked a goal. The least that should have happened was we come off with a nil-nil, but we didn’t do enough to win the game. “They had a game plan and they stuck to

“Before the sending off I thought we weren’t really at it – too many aimless long balls, too many touches and didn’t get in the right areas to put telling crosses into decent areas.

“Our set-pieces were average, to say the least, which is that’s not like us. There’s enough there to be thinking about for next week.

“It’s not all doom and gloom. Once again I thought our better players once again, like last, week were all defenders.

“Defensively we look sound, we are just lacking something going forward at the moment, it’s not quite clicking into place.

“I thought we lacked a little bit of imagination in our forward areas and there’s a few players not quite on their game at the moment.

“We’ve got a lot to look forward to. I did say and I have been saying that the season will have lots of twists and turns.

“We’re not the finished article, we’re not there yet, there will be twists and turns, injuries and suspensions.

“We’ve got a lot to look forward to but we’ve really got to get back on track as soon as we can now. I’m not sure we deserved to lose but I don’t think we did enough o win it either.”
