Almost a clean bill of health for the Valiants

Micky Adams can boast an almost fully fit squad as preparations continue for the big kick off this weekend when Vale take on one of the promotion favourites in Brentford here at Vale Park on Saturday – kick off 3.00pm.
The Vale boss said: “Other than Rob Taylor and Joe Davies, we have got a full complement of players, so that is pleasing, and everybody is in a decent frame of mind and ready for the season.
“Daniel Jones is telling us he is one hundred percent fit, but I wouldn’t expect him to say any different. He has had a good week’s training and is ready for the game.
“He gives us a number of options. We saw him primarily at left back last season, but he can play further forward as well if needed.
“Is there a concern about him? Well in terms of minutes on the pitch this pre-season, he has had the least minutes of all of the players on the pitch.
“But he is a naturally fit boy and I wouldn’t be afraid to put him in on Saturday if I had to.
There is no guaranteed place for anybody this season and the manager is more than pleased with the additions to the squad made during the summer.
He continued: “I am delighted with the six acquisitions that have been brought into the football club; I think they add something to the squad, a squad that did so well last season.
“But it means nothing now, we have got to adapt to the league very, very quickly, but want I want us to do is take the confidence and belief in each other and individually to the forthcoming season and have a crack at it.
“We have nothing to fear, we know we have to play to our maximum in most to get something  out of it, but if we have that confidence and belief in each other, then we will be fine.”
