Vale reserves slipped to their first defeat of the season at Morecambe’s Globe Arena. After a slow start to the game it was the Vale who went closest when Josh Croft lobbed a ball goalwards just before the half-hour mark that the home ‘keeper tipped over.

Ten minutes later it was Vale again who went closest to opening the scoring when Ryan Lloyd fired a shot wide.

Simon Wearing hit the bar for the home side and just as it looked as if the points would be shared Morecambe conjured up a winner with six minutes to go.
