Substitute thrilled to score in front of large following at Burton

Ben Williamson last night came off the bench for the second time in four days to score an important goal for his team and says it is a great feeling to find the net in front of such a big Vale following.

“It is always nice to get on the score sheet and we got a point from the game so that is what really matters” he said.

“As a striker you job is to score goals, so coming on twice in two games and scoring goals, I am just trying to prove that I can do it given the opportunity.

“When you get your chance you have got to try and take it so whether it is ten minutes or twenty minutes, you have just got to try and get on and score and then it’s job done really.

“It was a great break from ‘Jeno’ – he is really quick and he just put it on a plate for me. I just had to make sure I got good contact on the ball really and it ended up in the back of the net.

“Playing in front of such a big following was a huge boost for the lads and it gives the boys an extra lift. It’s like having an extra man on the pitch, but scoring and hearing that noise is a great feeling.

“We picked up a few knocks at Burton, but I am sure that the boys who come in will put in one hundred per cent and that is all you can ask really. The players that will come in can, I’m sure, do as good a job."
