It was a bad goal to concede after looking quite solid in defence up to that point. Vale had taken their foot off the pedal and were punished for it.

Vale almost started the second half in a similar fashion to the first when Pope threaded the ball through for Vincent.

The winger kept on his feet despite being challenged inside the box, but Roche in the Morecambe goal anticipated where he was going to put the shot and made the save, moving to his left to puch the ball away.

The home side looked a completely different side in the second half, forcing Vale on to the back foot at every opportunity.

Boss Micky Adams was beginning to look more and more anxious, contemplating changes to his side to see if Vale could stem the attacking threat of the home side and cause a few problems of their own.

It was still the home side who were enjoying the better of things, however, and they wentclose to nudging themselves ahead when a shot from Brodie was turned away byNeal.

Vale rode their luck at times, but with the score level going into the final tenminutes their was always the hope the visitors could snatch victory with a late goal.

Sam Morsy won a free kick on the edge of the Morecambe box and took it himself, the ball taking a deflection off a defender to give Vale a corner kick.

The corner came on from the right and was met by Vale defender JOHN McCOMBE, whose bullet header gave Roche absolutely no chance.
