ALL players apart from Dave Artell sign contracts

Administrators Begbies-Traynor, on behalf of Port Vale Football Club, can announce that all players needing to sign new contracts have done so, with the exception of David Artell.

Following an agreement with the administrators, the PFA and Football League, all existing Port Vale players who agreed new contracts at the end of last season – in addition to new players who joined in the summer – were required to sign new paperwork. The new contracts were signed ahead of the pre-season friendly against Tranmere Rovers.

Steve Currie, on behalf of Begbies-Traynor, said:

“This has been a very unsettling period but we are pleased that this has now been resolved, with the exception of David Artell, who has opted to look at other options.

“We thank all of the players for their co-operation in this delicate matter and urge supporters to back the team wherever possible, starting with Tuesday’s Capital One Cup game against Burnley. It is essential that we try and secure the 5,000 average attendance that we need to try and secure the future of the club moving forward.”

Manager Micky Adams added:

“I am relieved that the majority of players have committed their futures to Port Vale at such a difficult time, although I’m also disappointed that this situation has presented an opportunity for one of our players to leave the club.

“It is very important that we unite as a club moving forward and I look forward to seeing our fans at Vale Park
