Vale went into this game after beating Tranmere the previous week 6-0. Vale didn't get off to the best of starts with Wrexham having the early chances; when the ball fell to into the path of the Wrexham striker who hit the ball first time forcing Watson to a make a good reaction save onto the crossbar. Vale then started to get into the game, and it was vale who took the lead after about 20 minutes in Malbon, who picked up the ball and shot from 20 yards in to the corner leaving the keeper no chance. Not long after this Morsy then got himself on the score sheet after some good link up play. A ball into Malbon from Siribour was then bounced off into the path of Morsy who slotted away to give Vale a two goal lead. Vale started to dominate the game through the midfield but about 10 minutes from the first half Wrexham pulled a goal back after a poor clearance from the vale defence fell to a Wrexham player who then squared the ball across the 18 yard box for the oncoming player to shoot first time, the ball flying into the top corner leaving Watson no chance. This gave Wrexham a little lift and just on the stroke of half time got a controversial penalty after the Wrexham striker was supposedly bought down. However the penalty was saved with Watson getting the slightest of touches pushing the ball onto the post and the ball was then cleared by the vale defence.
Half Time Wrexham 1 Vale 2
Vale came out in the second half looking to carry on where they had left off. But it was Wrexham who had an early chance. When a through ball to an unmarked Wrexham striker beat Vale's offside trap and was clearly through on goal in a one on one with Watson. But Watson denied the striker with a dive to his left parrying the ball out wide. Vale then turned up another notch with Vale dominating with possession it was just a matter of time before they got a third and this come when a Vale player was fouled out wide Morsy stepped up and delivered a ball which was meet by Christianson at the back post who made sure, and put it past the keeper. Vale looked unstoppable with good play all over the park and shortly after got a fourth. the fourth came down the right hand side, when Siribour set the ball back to Morsy who put in another dangerous cross, which was not fully dealt with by the Wrexham defence the ball fell to Beeston on the edge of the box, who then took a first time shot into the corner leaving the keeper no chance again. The youth were growing in confidence and this reflected in the football that was being played across the park and this lead to the fifth goal. Some good link play lead to a shot which was parried by the goalkeeper which was to be followed by schoolboy Hughes who made no doubt second time round. The 6th goal came from a long ball from Watson which found Malbon who took the ball down under control, took on a Wrexham defender and slotted past the keeper to take Vale to a 5 goal lead. However Wrexham had some chances themselves hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions, and shortly after this got a second. After play at the back got broke down, ball being picked up by a opposing striker ran into the box and slotted the ball into the far corner to make it 6-2. But this goal was soon forgotten about when vale went and got another goal. Yet another attack from the vale which was not dealt with by Wrexham, a ball from Malbon across to Siribour who was unmarked at the back post and made no mistake put the ball into the corner to seal a well deserved win, with the score line reflecting just how well the Vale youth had played.
