Overview of GriffinPark:
Griffin Park is an old ground with little sign of modern developments around the stadium. Behind one goal is the Brook Road Stand, small, double tiered, now used by the away support, the top section being seated, the lower standing. This stand is quaintly known as the Wendy House.
Opposite is the Ealing Road Terrace, recently covered and now used by the home fans.
Along one side of the ground is the Braemar Road Stand, an old style stand with many supporting pillars to restrict the view. The dugouts and executive seating is found here.
The stand opposite, called the New Road Stand, has the same problem with restricted views for the home fans. Altogether a visit to GriffinPark is like entering a time warp.
Where the Valiants will be housed:
The away fans are now allocated the Brook Road Stand behind one of the goals. This is two tiered stand with seating for 600 in the upper tier, and terracing for 1,000 standing fans for the lower.
where to eat:
There are a number of chippies circling the ground. To find the nearest, the Albany Fish Bar, go along Braemar Road past the ground, turn left into Brook Road South, continue until you turn left into Albany Road. This fish bar is highly recommended by a regular Valiant traveller!
Three minutes walk away from the ground on Ealing Road is a McDonalds. The Griffin and New Inn are both known for pre match food as well as beers.
Alternatively available in the ground there are burgers, hot dogs, chips, even curry and rice, and Wrights Pies!!!
Best Boozer:
You certainly won't be at a loss to find a pub as there is virtually one on each corner of the ground, so just circle the ground and take your pick from the Princess Royal, The New Inn, The Griffin and TheRoyal Oak, all being away friendly.
