Matty Bell was given his marching orders at the Prostar Stadium yesterday as Vale Reserves picked up a point in a 0-0 draw.
The Vale defender kicked out at Shrewsbury's Jake Robinson on 35 minutes just yards from the referee, who had no option other than show a straight red card.
The home side produced several chances during the first half, with Vale looking threatening on the counter attack.
Playing out the remaining ten minutes of the first half and the whole of the second half with just ten men was always going to be difficult, but the numbers were evened up when ironically Robinson was ordered off.
Having already been booked, the Shrewsbury man picked up his second yellow card af the afternoon when the referee spotted a hand ball.
