Port Vale will take on Leyton Orient at home this weekend keen to pick up another result on home soil.

Their win against fellow strugglers Gillingham should stand them in good stead for this game, particularly as Orient's promotion form has suffered a set back of late.

Martin Ling's side arrive in Burslem occupying 10th place in League One with 56 points. A win on Saturday would still leave them out of the play offs however Ling feels his side's chances are now slim after back to back defeats. The latest of which was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cheltenham.

Despite only having lost one of the last four, Vale prop up the League One table and a win is needed to lift them off the bottom as long as Luton fail to get a result.

Old friends will be reunited for the game. Former Orient boys Shane Tudor and Justin Miller will be around to greet their former team mates. Though neither are expected to be in the side.

Vale will also give a warm welcome to former loanee defender Clayton Fortune, but he could miss out due to injury.

The last time these two sides met came in October of this season. Vale took the lead through a 40th minute strike by Luke Rodgers. Vale went to sleep in the second half and ended up 3-1 down by full time with goals from Tamika Mkandawire, Jabo Iberhe and Adam Boyd.

That then sparked an outburst from then acting assistant manager Mark Grew who questioned the performance and attitude of the players. The Vale squad will be hoping they don't feel the wrath of somebody else this time round.

Orient have been hit with a lengthy injury list, but some of those players could well return for this game. Defender Stephen Purches and on-loan midfielder Charlie Daniels have returned to training following injury, while defenders Mkandawire and Sam Oji could make a return to the side tomorrow following hamstring and hernia injures respectively. Defender Brian Saah is also out.

The danger man for Orient, JJ Melligan, is certain to be out as he serves a three match ban for his sending of at Carlisle. However Wayne Gray, who once spent time on-loan at ValePark, will be available and is likely to partner Adam Boyd up front.

Former Vale star Wayne Corden will be missing from this game as he is on-loan to NottsCounty.

Leyton Orient's away record is a bit of a mixture. Losing as many have they have won on their travels, and drawing six.

Vale's injuries worries have been light of late, but two were picked up in the home clash against Gillingham. Midfielder Robin Hulbert faces a late fitness test ahead of tomorrow's game, while winger Paul Edwards has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Striker Marc Richards will be looking to add to his goal account after scoring his first for the club on Monday, while midfield maestro Danny Whitaker can always be relied upon to pop up with a goal when it's needed and Monday's effort could well go down as a contender for goal of the season.

Vale brought in a late signing yesterday afternoon in the form of Mitchell Hanson, an 18 year-old defender from Derby. However he won't be able to feature for the Valiants for ten days as he is out with a calf injury.

Saturday's official will be Mr A R Hall who previously took charge for Vale's 1-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers in February last season.

Friends will have to become enemies on Saturday if Vale wish to pick something up from this game.
