Doug Loft has admitted the side will not underestimate Plymouth Argyle on Saturday as Vale look to put together back-to-back wins.
Argyle are sitting just above the relegation places after a year of financial turmoil, and Loft believes this should not make a difference into how the Valiants approach the game.
He told port-vale.co.uk: "Preparation has been really good and the lads are all really happy with the win last weekend but we can't get carried away just yet.
"I think every game in this league is tough and I believe Plymouth are a really good side who have the ability to cause us problems.
"They have obviously had their problems but that doesn't mean they aren't a good team, and we know it will be a tough game.
"If we play like we did against Rotherham then we are all confident that we will pick up the three points, and we know a couple of wins could get us closer to the play-off spots so we have prepared for Plymouth like we would for any other side."
The 25-year-old has recently been filling in at left-back after Vale's injury crisis, but the former Brighton and Hove Albion man insisted he was happy to sacrifice his natural position for the benefit of the club.
He added: "As long as we are winning games then it shouldn't matter what position people are playing in.
"Obviously, I love playing in midfield as that is my natural role but I would rather be in the starting line-up in some form, and it has been nice to be praised by the gaffer for my efforts.
"We just need to keep doing what we are doing, as even when we lost a couple I didn't think we played that badly, and everyone's attitude seems spot-on which gives us all hope.
"There is still a long way to go in the season and with a good unbeaten run now we feel as though we will be up there come May."
