The Closer to Home Walking project has joined forces with The Sproson Fund to promote a 3- hour sponsored walk around all the former Vale Grounds.Chairman Dave Felstead said "Following the approval of the planning application for the erection of the statue, the way is now clear for the fans recognition of one of Port Vale's finest. All funds are now in place with the exception of the erection costs, and it's for this that we are seeking sponsorship."

Walkers should meet outside Tommy Cheadles at 10.30 on Sunday Sept 12th. Sponsor forms can be picked up from the Vale shop or downloaded from www.closertohomewalks.org.uk.

Elise Butler Project Assistant Closer to Homes Circular Walks team said, 'this is a great opportunity to take a healthy walk whilst exploring Port Vale's heritage and visiting the sites of its five previous grounds. We hope that that this will whet people's appetite for joining the regular walks to the match and our programme of health walks across the City, many of which feature Past Vale pitches.'
