Vale hit the Dabbers for six at Weaver Lane to record their third win in four days as preparation for the new season continued.
The kick off was delayed for ten minutes due to reported congestion on the A500, but it didn't take long for Vale to get into their stride.
Rob Taylor gave Vale a 7th minute lead when his 20 yard shot struck central defender Chris Flynn on its way into the net.
Justin Richards opened his Port Vale account jut four minutes later after latching on to a well placed pass down the left flank from Matt Bell.
Spotting Ben Chapman racing off his line, the former Cheltenham striker took the ball past the Nantwich 'keeper and slotted home from the tightest of angles.
Trialist Kyle Blake pulled one back for the home side five minutes before the interval, but Vale were to hit four more goals in the second half.
Micky Adams made five changes at half time, but the team needed a while to settle, before Marc Richards restored grabbed himself a brace.
Glyn Blackhurst had gone close for Nantwich with a low drive that tested Chris Martin, but on 68 minutes Richards nodded home a left wing cross from Sean Rigg in style from close range.
Four minutes later Richards was on the score sheet for the second time after being brought down inside the box by Tom Parkes.
Richards took the spot kick, firing low to Chapman's left, wrong-footing the 'keeper in the process.
Substitute Dave Davis pulled a goal back for the home side when he headed home a free kick from Dave Tickle, but Vale struck again on 78 minutes.
Substitute Will Bratt fed the overlapping Adam Yates, who raced to the byline before crossing from the right and Anthony Malbon was on hand to finish off to keep up his record of a goal a game in pre-season.
Six minutes from time Will Bratt completed the scoring with a fortuitous strike as his intended cross evaded everybody on its way into the net to complete the scoring, although John McCombe claimed the final touch.
