The dressing room is as good as last season, says defender Gareth Own, and the two new boys have each been made welcome by the rest of the team.
Everybody realised the importance of a tough pre-season in terms of fitness work and the players are keen to work together to do as well as they possibly can.
He said: "It is good to get back in. Walking through the dressing room on the first day back, the team spirit was as good as when we left it at the end of last season and I think everybody has come back fit and strong.
"I don't think anyone is overweight - everyone is looking trim and everyone is looking forward to getting cracking and to the long season ahead.
"Stuart Tomlinson was here a year ago so I'm sure he knew what to expect, but we welcomed Justin Richards with open arms with a good running session yesterday morning. He's got to get used to that, but he fitted in straight away.
"It is a great group here and everybody is incorporated into that group - we don't leave anybody on the periphery. Everybody has their own point of view and everybody is free to voice that point of view and the banter goes both ways. If you give it out you have got to be prepared to take it, as everybody did yesterday morning.
"I am fit and one hundred percent now. I had a couple of weeks off after the end of the season and then did the 10k run, which was a good test for me to see how my body stood up to it.
"I came back for pre-season feeling fit and, 'touch wood', I won't be picking up any more injuries. It is all part and parcel of football, you can pick up 'niggles' in pre-season, but you just have to get on with it.
"We have got a good team spirit together, everything is going in our favour, there is a good buzz around the camp - there is a good buzz around the city as well.
"We all know what is in store, we all know how tough it is going to be, but I think we have shown last year, we have got more than enough ability in the dressing room and we will be as fit as anybody else and it is up to us to put in the performances on a Saturday."
