Port Vale's win-lose form continued on Tuesday night with an excellent result - and performance - against Bradford City at Vale Park.
After losing against Northampton Town at the weekend, the Valiants returned to winning ways against the Bantams - something which made manager Micky Adams very happy.
"I am absolutely delighted with the win and obviously delighted with the performance. I'm thrilled," said Micky.
However, he said that he would much prefer a win-win results sequence, rather than having to make amends for a poor result on Saturday.
"That's the frustrating thing from my point of view. We have quality in the side but I think the application was spot on from the first whistle. Alright - we went a goal down which was disappointing, but I said to them at half-time, not to let that affect them. In the first half we got after them, we did all the right things to get a result and missed two great chances.
"I emphasised to them to keep going and not feel sorry for ourselves. I think the important thing is that we didn't go 'Gung-Ho'.
"I am pleased for the boys more than anything. There were some harsh words said at half-time on Saturday and there was a terrific response tonight."
Rob Taylor got the winner on his return to the side against Peter Taylor's men and the manager underlined that he has undoubted quality when he believes in himself.
"Rob has that sort of quality. We can all see that he has that in him. It's the other side of his game that he has to change - he doesn't realise what he's got."
Micky also had praise for striker Marc Richards.
"You saw the two chances and I think that a confident Marc Richards would have buried them. At least he's in there and at least we are creating chances for him. The thing about Marc is he doesn't hide. Geoff Horsfield told him at half-time to keep going - it will come. If you do the right things and get in the right area to score goals, it will come."
Vale travel to Chesterfield on Saturday, looking to make amends for the defeat against the Spireites not many weeks ago.
"They are all tough games. Bradford went to Rochdale and won and it just emphasising that in this league, if you are not on your game and 100% up for it, you can be undone by any team. Providing that we recover well, I pick the right team and we go into the match with the same attitude that we've shown against Bradford, we have nothing to fear."
