GAFFER: MICKY KEEN NOT TO LET DOWN THE FANS
Vale boss Micky Adams is looking forward to the Burton game on Saturday afternoon and is keen not to let the large contingent of travelling supporters down.
Vale sold out all of their original allocation of tickets, but the club were able to obtain a few extra which were quickly snapped up. The final count was 1,996 tickets sold.
The manager has seen both sides of the coin from his players. Early on in the season a large following at the Moss Rose were sent home disappointed after Vale were outshone by hhhh's Macclesfield side.#
At Shrewsbury and a week later, Crewe's Alexandra Stadium, Vale fans were ecstatic after watching their side pick up maximum points from both games.
Micky said: "We had a large following at Macclesfield early on in the season and we can look back on that one and say, if we don't apply ourselves correctly, then we will get our backsides kicked like we did there.
"But the lads have responded better since then, particularly at Shrewsbury and at Crewe, which was also a local derby. We have a Staffordshire derby on Saturday and are looking forward to it.
"At the moment it is a pleasure to be manager. The players know what we want, they know what to expect, they are doing a lot of hard work themselves in and around the dressing room, the things that the fans don't see and they are all determined to do well, which is great."
A win at the Pirelli Stadium this weekend would see Vale's unbeaten run stretch to seven games and get supporters believing Vale have a real chance of mounting a challenge on the play-off places, but as Micky has said before, "There's a long way to go yet."
