Paul Musselwhite started his professional career with home town Portsmouth, but joined the Vale from Scunthorpe United in July 1992 for a fee of £17,500.

He soon became first-choice 'keeper and was part of the side which lifted the Autoglass Trophy in 1993 and also of the team which was promoted from Division Two in 1994.

After making  367 appearances for the club,more than any other goalkeeper Paul left on a free transfer in September 2000 to join Hull City, before eventually re-joining Scunthorpe United. He returned to the Vale as cover in 2007, but did not make a senior appearance.He has since played for Kettering, Harrogate, Gateshead  Lincoln City and York City, where he is currently the goalkeeping coach and reserve 'keeper.
