Robbie celebrates after scoring for Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup Finals

It is well documented that Robbie was on the books of neighbours Stoke City before joining the Vale as a youngster. Born in Newcastle Under Lyme, he came through the ranks at Vale Park and eventually signed as a professional in the summer of 1982.

He made his first team debut in August of that year, when he played in a 1-0 defeat to Swindon Town and within two years he had become a first team regular.

He played in every game in 1985/1986 and was part of the team which won promotion from the Fourth Division that year and was also a regular in the side which was promoted from the Third Division in 1988/1989, scoring the decisive goal in the second leg of the play-off final, against Bristol Rovers.

Robbie was sold to Wimbledon in the summer of 1991 for £775,000 and went on to represent Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup, where he scored their first ever goal in the final stages.

Robbie is now making a name for himself as a 'football pundit' on national television and seems to be enjoying his new career. After leaving ITV he now works for ESPN.
