Rob Page Says There’s Still More To Come From Port Vale

  • Vale manager says last gasp draw against Gillingham felt like win
  • The 40-year-old is proud of his players’ attitude
  • Page says there is still room for improvement as his side heads into Christmas period

Port Vale boss Rob Page has been delighted with the attitude of his players since he took over but insists there is still more to come from his side.

The Valiants have climbed from the relegation zone to 15th in Sky Bet League One since the 40-year-old took over as manager in October.

During that time, Page has led the club to impressive wins over the likes of Yeovil Town, last season’s play-off finalists Leyton Orient and - more recently - Rochdale.

Speaking exclusively to Valiant Player this week, the Vale manager expressed his pride at the way his players have applied themselves but claims the best is yet to come.

“I’ve been over the moon with the reaction of the players from the first minute I took over up until now they’ve been a credit to themselves,” he said.

“They’ve come in, given their best; they go out onto the pitch, give 100% and as a manager that’s all you ask.

“We try to organise things during the week now so that we all have an understanding of what’s expected on the Saturday, what we’re coming up against and I think we’ve that in games.

“I think we’ve seen a different way of how we play or how we approach games. I think we’re quite happy to keep the ball and be patient in our build-up.

“Like we’ve proved before with Dany [N’Guessan] scoring Saturday and Browny coming in with his fair share and even Yatsey popping up with the odd goal, there are goals within the team now.

“I’m pleased but there’s still a lot of room for improvement and it’s still a working progress but there’s signs that we’re getting to where I want to go.”
