“I just said to the boys in there that since I’ve taken over, for me, that was the most pleasing result. I thought we did both sides of the game really, really well.

We threw our bodies on the line when we had to; we were under a bit of pressure at times in the game, which we knew we would be with coming to a good team in Notts County away from home and we knew we would be under the cosh.

“I thought from front to back, again, defensively we were outstanding and we knew with Byron [Moore] coming into his own, coming into the team like a new signing, and Mark Marshall finding a great bit of form at the moment and knowing with the threat we’ve got with Tom [Pope] and Willo we knew we could hurt teams.

“The clean sheet capped it all off for us for a great day.”
