Port Vale manager Rob Page believes his players deserve massive credit for the win over Chesterfield.
Sam Kelly, Ajay Leitch-Smith and Louis Dodds each scored to seal the three points for the Valiants against Dean Saunders’ side.
Just 48 hours earlier Vale had beaten Maidenhead United in their FA Cup first round replay at York Road live on BT Sport.
Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD following the victory over the Spireites, Page praised the professionalism of his players.
“Credit to the lads, less than 40 hours ago they were playing in a cup game on a boggy pitch which was tough,” he said.
“A fantastic result, not so much the performance, but they showed character and guts that evening when we went a goal behind as well.
“On the back of that to go in a short space of time and put in a performance like that today against a Chesterfield team whose form away from home is very good is credit to the players.”
