Club Chef Takes On Prostate Cancer UK Bike Ride Challenge

20 January 2015

Sponsor Jonathan Flint As He Takes On 145 Mile Bike Ride

Club chef Jonathan Flint is swapping the kitchen for the bike saddle over the next few months as he takes on the London to Amsterdam Prostate Cancer UK challenge on behalf of Port Vale.

The two-day bike ride, which starts at Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium on 12 June and finishes at AFC Ajax’s Amsterdam Arena, is 145 miles long.

The event is geared towards raising money and awareness for prostate cancer with representatives of Football League clubs from up and down the country taking part.

Jonathan, 47, from Birmingham, is Vale’s club champion this year and is aiming to raise over £1,000 in sponsorship as part of the #MenUnited team.

Speaking to port-vale.co.uk, he said: “I was approached by the club to represent the club and do this charity bike ride.

“For me it has particular personal meaning because I have a family member who is currently suffering with advanced stages of cancer and has now gone into final stages of cancer.

“So for me it is to acknowledge the sterling work the charity do, raise awareness and at the same time raise some much-needed funds for the charity.”
