Youngsters Given Insight Into Professional Environment

Port Vale’s under-9s, 10s and 11s took part in half-term technical development and football education sessions last week.

The players started with an academic workshop led by Head of Education, Chris Taylor, which included studying scrapbooks - donated by a supporter - showcasing the club’s recent history.

Vale currently have around 40 of these books and they can be viewed by prior arrangement at the club.

The rest of the morning and majority of the afternoon then consisted of strength and conditioning work, Futsal sessions and usual training.

Lee Foyle, Vale’s Lead Foundation Coach, was delighted with how the sessions went, saying: “It's always a good opportunity for the Academy players to come in to the ground during half-terms as they an insight of what the professionals do on a day-to-day basis.

“At Port Vale we always stress that education is really important as there is something to fall back on if their dreams don't come true and it also gives you another avenue after football as it’s only a short career.

“Not only that but it gives us as coaches more contact time with the players to enable to enhance their footballing knowledge and ability.”
