We invited the children as guests of the club for the clash with Northampton.
Eleven children from the local area who come from asylum seeking families were the guests of the club at the Northampton game along with the management team from Citizens Advice Bureau who provide help and support to the families.These families have come from areas of the world where they have been severely persecuted and discriminated against but have received a warm welcome in Stoke-on-Trent with very positive support from local schools.
Football knows no boundaries and attending a game and stadium activities provided by the Port Vale Foundation has according to the children given them a real positive experience and memories for the future.
Club staff have been running activities for asylum seeking and refugee children in school holidays and will be doing so again in the Christmas holiday at St Mark's Church in Shelton providing presents from the Children in Need grant awarded to the Vale Park Community Initiative.
