Vale Boss Prior To Weekend Game

Port Vale interim manager Rob Page says his players have presented him with a selection dilemma prior to this weekend’s game against Leyton Orient.

The Valiants host Kevin Nugent’s side to Vale Park on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, with just three places and two points separating them in the League One table.

Chris Birchall came off the bench to score in Tuesday evening’s 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe United and other players’ performances in training have also impressed Page.

Speaking to Valiant Player ahead of the match against Orient, Vale’s interim manager admitted he will have to think hard about his starting line-up over the next two days but insists that is a good problem to have.

“When you’ve got players coming on and having an impact like that, it gives you a headache for the right reasons, you’ve got selection problems,” he said.

“It’s good for Chris [Birchall] because he’s got the goal and it’s good from the team and the club’s point of view that we’ve got the best players ready and fighting to go.”
